6 Church Street has a bright and large living room, a cosy dining room and a very functional kitchen. Being set over three floors means there are a fair few stairs to climb – great practice for the Dorset hills for any walkers!
The house is in a great location and is full of character. It was built in about 1790, not long after a fire burnt down much of the area around the square in Beaminster. Some of the original deeds are displayed in the house.
In the living room there are two big sofas, a TV and DVD player, and a Playstation 2. There is also a stereo, with an iPod connector and a large range of CD’s and a wide range of books and some board games.
It sleeps five or six comfortably and can accommodate up to seven. Bedroom one has a king size bed, bedroom two a double and bunk beds and bedroom three has a single bed. The bathroom has a basin, toilet and a bath with a shower attachment. There is a second toilet in the downstairs cloakroom.
The dining room table seats six comfortably. There are gas fires in the dining room and living room, and central heating throughout. Bedlinen and towels are provided
Outside is a small decked, walled garden with a few pot plants, a table and chairs and a barbeque area. Although small, it is an excellent and private sun trap in the summer.
6 Church Street is just off the main square in Beaminster, about 6 miles north of the market town of Bridport and roughly 8 from the south coast. It is a quiet and increasingly fashionable town, with everything you need and plenty that you don’t! There are numerous little boutiques shops selling gifts, art, flowers and many other luxuries.
Also in the town square, just a few yards from the house, is a bank, a co-op mini supermarket, a butchers and a bakers.
There a several good places to eat in Beaminster – The Wild Garlic is owned and run by recent Masterchef champion Matt Follas. The Bridge House hotel has a good restaurant and a reasonably priced Brasserie. Jenny Wrens Pizza Place makes excellent take away pizzas.
There are three pubs in Beaminster – The Red Lion, The Greyhound and The Knapp. All are drinking pubs which serve food, and the Red Lion is great for watching football
Beaminster is ideally located to explore the Jurassic coast. West Bay, with its dramitic cliffs and beaches, is just 15 minutes away. Burton Bradstock offers a quieter beach, with a popular beach café. There are numerous beaches and walks to explore along the coast between Weymouth and Lyme Regis.
The town of Bridport holds a busy market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and is 10 minutes away. There are numerous excellent places to eat and drink in the surrounding area.
Whatever time of year or type of weather you will find plenty to do and see in West Dorset.
